How does the SmartLipo procedure work?
After using tumescent numbing medicine in the area being treated, Dr. Brozowski inserts a very small cannula (tube) approximately 1.0mm in diameter containing a laser fiber under the skin. The cannula delivers the laser’s energy directly to the fat cells, causing them to liquefy. The laser energy also interacts with blood vessels, causing them to coagulate, thus minimizing bruising and swelling. Another wavelength of light emitted stimulates the dermis, resulting in skin shrinkage or tightening. Due to the cannula’s small size, SmartLipo Laser-Assisted Liposuction is a less invasive procedure and can be performed with local anesthesia in an outpatient setting.
Who is a good candidate for the SmartLipoLaser Liposuction procedure?

What are the possible side effects?
Possible side effects include swelling, bruising, numbness and minimal bleeding. Dr. Brozowski employs the laser to reduce post-operative bruising, since the laser energy closes blood vessels as it tightens skin. Therefore, there is less bruising and swelling than with traditional liposuction. Mild bruising and muscle tenderness is typical after the procedure.
Do I have to do anything post-treatment?
After the treatment you will need to wear a compression garment around-the-clock for several days after the procedure. Then you will wear the neck garment for 12 hours per day for several weeks, as dictated by the doctor. Rest is recommended after the procedure and activity may be resumed gradually. Refrain from hot tubs or strenuous exercise for 2 weeks.
